Cindy Holmes is available for Public Art Projects. Contact us to schedule a consultation.
Cindy was born in Los Angeles, California. Her family moved to Starkville, Mississippi, where she grew up and attended Mississippi State University. She graduated with a degree in Social Work. After a number of moves with her husband she now resides in Texarkana, Texas.
In mid-life, after marriage and children, she became interested in art and studied with acclaimed painters such as Charles Sovek, Kitty Wallis, Ken Auster, Bob Burridge, Ann Templeton and others who helped her find her artistic vision. This was a time in which she honed her painting skills in a colorful impressionistic manner. She found successes with entries into national oil and pastel exhibitions and an award winning work in the Pastel Journal.
However, her life soon changed again, when family matters took her away for a hiatus of seven years. Now, she is again immersed in art but her medium has changed to acrylic. Forcing herself to examine “what did she want to say” and “how did she want to say it” led her to flattening her work. More abstraction and symbolism is used with embedded objects reinforcing what she has to say. Retaining her love of color and mark- making throughout this process, she continues to evolve.
Her paintings have been collected by individuals throughout the States and recently by a large corporation. She is once again being accepted into national shows and being a part of the New Texas Talent in Dallas was a highlight along with being accepted into the Haley-Henman Gallery in Dallas. The challenge of expressing her artistic viewpoint has made her even more determined to see where her works take her.
