Bryan Winfred Massey, Sr. is currently a Professor of Art/Sculptor/Designer at the University of Central Arkansas, Conway. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) from East Carolina University in Greenville, NC; his Master of Fine Arts (MFA) from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, LA.
He is primarily a stone carver. He works with a variation of stones from alabaster, soapstone, limestone, marble and granite. He also cast in iron, bronze, and aluminum as well as fabricating large scaled sculptures in steel.
Some of his completed works include the Sidney S. McMath Memorial in Little Rock, the Silas Herbert Hunt Memorial in Fayetteville, AR, on the campus of U of A and his Nautilus sculpture located in the Riverfront Park just behind the Marriot Hotel, as well as The Mosaic Templars Cultural Center and Museum’s permanent collection in Little Rock, AR. He currently installed a commission for the Russellville Center for the Arts, as well as a large outdoor sculpture for the opening of the “new” Grammy Museum in Cleveland, Mississippi. Bryan has exhibited internationally, nationally, and regionally throughout his career and continues to exhibit and compete at a consistently high professional level.
Bryan has been married to Delphine Massey for 31 years and they have three children; Junia (Joo-nee-ah), Bryan, Jr. and Javan (Jah-von). He and his family continue to reside in Conway, AR.
